Vintage Gunmetal

Timeless Plains Fabric

Vintage Gunmetal is a deep, cool brown-grey textile with a softly weathered surface. Its restrained plain weave is enlivened by fine vertical and horizontal threads that catch the light unevenly.

About this fabric

The close-up shows an even woven ground rather than a printed motif, with charcoal, brown and muted grey threads combining to create the gunmetal tone. Subtle linear slubs and changes in density give the surface a lightly tactile, organic character. The depth of colour keeps the fabric feeling composed and smart, while the low-contrast weave prevents it from reading as flat black. This is a fabric colourway suited to upholstery and drapery where a dark, quietly textured neutral is wanted.

How to use it

Pair Vintage Gunmetal with warm timber, aged metal and soft ivory to balance its cool brown-grey depth. It can give tailored seating a grounded finish or bring a softly shadowed quality to curtains.

Use this deep brown-grey weave to bring quiet depth to tailored upholstery, cushions or full-length curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
