York Marl Fabric

Misc Fabric

York Marl is a cool grey textile with a finely mottled surface, creating a softly clouded appearance across the swatch. Its close, even weave gives the colour a gentle depth rather than a flat block of grey.

About this fabric

The surface combines pale and mid-grey fibres in a subtle marl effect, with no visible motif or directional pattern. Light catches the fine texture unevenly, bringing out delicate shifts between silvery grey and a slightly deeper charcoal tone. The dense-looking woven face reads as considered and quietly tailored, making the colourway well suited to upholstered forms where texture can be seen at close range.

How to use it

Use this cool marl grey on a contemporary sofa, armchair or headboard, pairing it with chalky whites, pale timber and brushed metal. Its muted tonal variation can also soften darker charcoal, navy or black accents without introducing a strong pattern.

A cool, softly mottled grey with a close woven texture for understated upholstery schemes.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
