Suave Shale

Suave Shale is a warm stone taupe with a closely textured face that shifts gently between beige and brown as the folds catch the light. Its quiet, irregular surface gives the colour a softly tactile character.

About this fabric

The image shows a dense woven texture made up of tiny irregular loops and short raised ridges rather than a printed motif. Subtle tonal variation across the surface keeps this muted taupe from looking flat, while the deeper shading in the folds adds gentle depth. The substantial-looking face reads particularly well on upholstered seating, where its tactile weave can be appreciated up close. No performance features are noted in the supplied information for this fabric.

How to use it

Pair Suave Shale with chalky creams, natural oak and softened browns for a calm, layered scheme. Its warm stone taupe also works as a grounding upholstery colour beside darker timber or aged metal.

Use this warm stone taupe on sofas, armchairs and ottomans for a softly tactile, grounded look.

Pairs well with

Suave Shale is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
