About Emma Shipley
Emma J Shipley is a British designer whose work begins as detailed pencil drawing. The subjects are animals and imagined creatures, drawn with the density of an engraving and then coloured, and they arrive on furnishing fabric through a collaboration with Clarke & Clarke rather than through a mill of her own.
The collections we hold come from that collaboration. Animalia gathers tropical parrots, swinging lemurs, tigers and hand-drawn giraffes; Wilderie takes its cue from myths and legends; Mythica continues the same idea. They are printed across rich velvets, satins and earthy linens, so one design can be had in several very different weights and finishes.
This is pattern that behaves like artwork. A single width can carry a room on its own, which is worth knowing before ordering enough for a pair of full-length curtains and a sofa.
