About Jacaranda Carpets

Jacaranda make carpet and rugs from bio-based fibres only: wool, which is renewable and biodegradable, TENCEL, which is spun from wood pulp out of sustainably grown forests through Lenzing's closed-loop process, and silk, which they blend with merino in the Mandalay Silk range. The head office is in Northamptonshire and there is a London showroom.

The house carries GoodWeave certification, which is the one that matters on a handwoven carpet: it is the scheme that inspects looms against child labour. Several ranges are handwoven rather than tufted, and most come as broadloom or as a rug with a choice of border, so the same cloth can run through a room or stop at a hearth.

Where Cormar is the Lancashire mill making a hard-wearing British carpet at a sensible price, Jacaranda is the one to reach for when the floor is part of the scheme rather than underneath it: the wool and TENCEL blends have a sheen that a wool twist does not.

The photographs here are Jacaranda's own square shots of the pile, not the styled room sets they also publish.
