About this colour

At #F8F4E3, Stock reads as a light cream-beige with a gentle yellow warmth and very little weight. It reflects plenty of light, so it helps darker rooms feel more open, but it does so softly rather than brightly. In a north-facing room it can turn a little more muted and biscuit-like, which keeps it from feeling chilly. In south-facing light it looks warmer and cleaner, with enough softness to sit comfortably beside natural wood, aged brass, linen upholstery and darker painted joinery. It is an easy companion to both pale oak and deeper walnut, and it gives upholstered pieces a calm backdrop without fighting them.

How to use it

Use Stock on walls in sitting rooms, hallways or bedrooms where you want a light neutral that is not cold. It suits painted skirtings and architraves in the same tone, and sits well beside upholstery in oatmeal, sage, rust or charcoal.

A gentle cream neutral that stays soft on the wall.
