About this colour

In this shade, #FCF6D8, the yellow warmth is clear but restrained, so it feels light rather than sugary. On walls it lifts the room and reflects plenty of light, while still holding a soft, creamy depth. In a north-facing room it can read slightly cooler and more muted, taking on a pale parchment note; in south-facing light it looks sunnier and more luminous. It sits well beside natural oak, aged pine and painted joinery in off-whites, and it gives a calm backdrop to linen, wool and faded floral upholstery.

How to use it

It suits living rooms, bedrooms and hallways where a gentle neutral is wanted, especially with timber floors and simple woodwork. Pair it with warm white joinery, honey woods and upholstery in stone, oatmeal, moss or soft blue.

A pale warm neutral that brings a soft, light-filled feel to walls.

Pairs well with

First Light is a wall colour, so these are the cloths that sit against it: one of them on the curtains, the paint behind. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.
