About this fabric
The pale grey base is clouded with slightly darker silver-grey tonal patches rather than a distinct printed motif. Fine diagonal fibres create a close, brushed grain, while broad shifts in light give the surface gentle nap-like depth. Its cool, low-saturation Shale tone reads clean and quiet, with darker areas appearing where the surface turns away from the light. The plain, softly dimensional face is well suited to upholstered forms where texture can carry the design.
How to use it
Use 56 Shale on a softly shaped chair, headboard or sofa where its cool pale grey can balance warm timber, deep green and darker stone finishes. Keep surrounding materials tactile but introduce contrast through deeper tones and more pronounced grain.
Use the cool pale grey to bring quiet contrast to darker timber, stone and richly coloured upholstery.
