About Ross Fabrics

Sims Ross founded S Ross and Co Limited in the centre of Leeds in 1933, trading solely in upholstery sundries. Companies House records the company as incorporated on 27 May 1933 and still active.

In 1968 the business moved to an old Methodist chapel in Morley on the outskirts of Leeds, and it was there that it began trading as Ross Fabrics. It moved to Lower Wortley in 1978, stayed twenty-two years, and moved to its present site in 2000, at which point it stopped selling sundries altogether. All members of the Ross family have now retired from the business.

It is a trade-only supplier and does not sell to the public. It holds stock of over 2,500 different fabrics, by full roll or cut length, usually on next day delivery, and carries a range of AquaClean treated fabrics that can be cleaned with water alone.

Next day delivery on 2,500 upholstery cloths is exactly what a busy workshop needs. AquaClean is also the honest answer for a household with young children or a dog: it is not indestructible, but water and a cloth will take out most of what happens to a sofa in a real house.

The pattern books

Not in the digital library, in the room.

We hold this house in the pattern-book room rather than in the online finder, which covers the collections we have photographed ourselves. Come and turn the pages, or tell us the room and we will bring the books to you.
