About Warwick

Warwick Fabrics UK makes exclusive furnishing fabrics for domestic and commercial interiors, sold through shops and independent interior designers across the country and suitable for both upholstery and drapery. It won the Queen's Award for Export Achievement in 1993, and its head office is at Hardwicke in Gloucester.

It is half of a pair. Warwick Fabrics UK is co-owned by Warwick Fabrics Australia and shares design and purchasing with it, though the two do not necessarily stock the same cloth; the UK company exports to Europe, Africa and the Americas while the Australian company covers Asia and the Middle East. The wider Warwick group is family owned and has supplied textiles since 1966, starting in Melbourne. Fabrics carrying the group's Confidence in Textiles label have been tested for harmful substances under Oeko-Tex.

Warwick says plainly that upholstery is its strength and that the decorative and curtain side is still growing, which matches what we see in the books.

About half the Warwick fabrics in our library publish a Martindale figure, most of them at 60,000 rubs or better, and nine in ten publish composition, width and repeat. It is a practical house rather than a decorative one, and it is often the answer when a piece has to survive a family rather than be admired by one.
