Emile Charcoal
Emile II FabricJ896F-16
Emile Charcoal reads as an almost-black charcoal with a very subtle soft sheen across its smooth surface. The colour feels deep and controlled, with just enough tonal movement to keep the cloth from looking flat.

About this fabric
This Emile II colourway is a plain, close-looking fabric with a smooth face and a dense, even finish that suits tailored interiors. The 50% cotton and 50% polyester composition gives it a balanced handle, while the 140cm approximate width makes it practical for a range of upholstery projects. With a vertical and horizontal repeat of 0cm approx., the design is clean and uninterrupted, letting the dark charcoal tone do the work. The colour sits in the black family but reads as a softened charcoal rather than a hard jet black, which helps it feel refined rather than harsh. Fire code K and care code C 8 + T 3 are supplied for this exact fabric.
How to use it
Use it to ground pale woods, limestone tones or crisp white upholstery details, where the charcoal depth will add contrast without looking stark. It also works well with brushed metal finishes and muted greys for a sharp, architectural scheme.
A sleek dark neutral that works beautifully on tailored seating and clean-lined pieces.

Pairs well with
Emile Charcoal is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
