About this colour

At #EFDCBE, Cheap Soufflé has a gentle peach-beige cast that lifts a wall without looking cold or chalky. In north-facing light it can soften into a quieter, slightly muted sand tone, while in south-facing rooms the warmth comes forward and it reads brighter and more buttery. It works well beside natural oak, walnut and darker stained woodwork, and it gives good company to linen, stone and muted brown upholstery tones. In Flat Matt it will feel softer and more enveloping; Eggshell, Soft Sheen and the other finishes will sharpen it slightly for woodwork or higher-wear areas.

How to use it

Use it in sitting rooms, hallways or bedrooms where you want a pale neutral with more warmth than white. It suits painted skirtings and panelling, and pairs cleanly with textured linens, tan leathers and deep green or chocolate upholstery.

A warm, pale neutral like this gives walls a gentle glow without becoming creamy.
