Urbane Silverbirch

Timeless Velvets Velvet

Urbane Silverbirch is a pale, cool silver-grey velvet with a calm, almost misted appearance. Its plain surface lets the subtle movement of the nap create gentle tonal shifts across the swatch.

About this fabric

Catalogued as a velvet, Urbane Silverbirch has a smooth, even pile and a restrained lustre rather than a pronounced pattern. The shade sits between soft grey and silvery birch, reading cool and lightly luminous in the photograph. Fine changes in the nap create barely perceptible bands of lighter and darker grey, giving the plain surface quiet depth. Its understated colour and tactile finish make the fabric especially suited to upholstery where texture is intended to carry the design.

How to use it

Use this pale silver-grey on a sofa, headboard or occasional chair in a cool, pared-back scheme. Pair it with chalky whites, soft stone and brushed metal, or warm it with pale oak and muted taupe.

A cool, softly lustrous velvet for bringing quiet silver-grey depth to upholstered seating and occasional pieces.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
