Herring Gull

Herring Fabrics FabricSAF0264-01

Herring Gull shows a fine herringbone check with a softly weathered, silvery grey appearance. The close weave gives the surface a calm, textural haze rather than a bold contrast.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric is specified at 137.5 cm usable width and has a substantial 547 gsm weight, which gives the swatch a reassuringly full hand. The pattern repeat is small at 1.6 cm vertically and 3.3 cm horizontally, so the herringbone effect reads as a tight, refined texture rather than a statement motif. In this colourway, the grey sits on the cooler side with a pale, misted finish that feels restrained and coastal. The 43 threads per cm contribute to the crisp, closely worked look visible across the cloth.

How to use it

Use it on a sofa, armchair, or bench where you want a low-contrast neutral with a tailored finish. Its soft grey tone pairs especially well with chalk white, driftwood, and darker graphite accents.

A quiet neutral that works beautifully on tailored seating and pared-back cushions.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
