The Stumpery Lichen

Highgrove by Sanderson Fabrics FabricSAF0471-01

The Stumpery in Lichen shows a softly layered garden landscape, with airy trees, fern fronds and pale woodland detail worked across a light ground. Its muted green and warm earthy tones give the design a calm, natural depth.

About this fabric

This fabric is catalogued as a textile with a usable width of 139 cm, a 59 cm vertical repeat and a 69.5 cm horizontal repeat, so the scene is set out in a clear, statement-scale pattern. At 433 gsm and 22.8 threads per cm, it has a substantial handle that suits upholstery use, with enough body to support the richness of the printed motif. The Lichen colourway reads as soft sage and moss green against cream and beige, with touches of ochre and bark brown that keep the palette grounded and slightly sun-warmed. The overall effect is less saturated than a bright botanical print, so the foliage feels weathered, restful and close to the tone of real garden growth.

How to use it

Use this colourway on an occasional chair, ottoman or window seat where the botanical repeat can be seen without overwhelming the room. It works especially well with oak, rattan and chalky paint colours, which echo the fabric’s muted lichen and earth tones.

Pair with warm oak, linen and pale neutrals to let the garden scene feel airy and lived-in.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
