The Stumpery Outdoor Fern

Highgrove by Sanderson Fabrics OutdoorSAX0077-01

The Stumpery Outdoor Fern shows a layered woodland scene in soft fern green, faded blue and twiggy brown on a warm ivory ground. The hand-painted look keeps the design airy despite the large-scale repeat.

About this fabric

This Highgrove by Sanderson outdoor fabric has a usable width of 138 cm and a substantial 215 gsm weight, making it a practical choice for indoor-outdoor use. The pattern repeat is 60 cm vertically and 68 cm horizontally, which suits the generous, repeating trees, fern fronds and painterly foliage seen across the swatch. In this colourway the greens read fresh but muted, with pale blue canopies and a lightly weathered background that softens the overall effect. The fine thread count of 38.5 threads per cm helps the print look detailed rather than heavy, while the scene still feels grounded and durable.

How to use it

Use it on conservatory cushions, garden benches or relaxed armchairs where the soft fern tones can sit against rattan, oak or painted white wood. It also works well as drapery in a sheltered room if you want a gentle woodland pattern with a light, faded finish.

A softly painted outdoor cloth that brings airy, garden-room character to cushions or curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside The Stumpery Outdoor Fern without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
