The Stumpery Fern

Highgrove by Sanderson Fabrics FabricSAF0471-02

The Stumpery Fern shows a painterly woodland scene in soft blue-green, cream and mossy tones, with leafy canopies and fern fronds scattered across the ground. The washed, slightly misty colourway gives the design a calm, garden-walk feeling rather than a sharp or high-contrast look.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric has a substantial handle at 433 gsm, which suits it to upholstery rather than light drapery. The print sits on a pale cream ground, allowing the blue-toned foliage, green ferns and fine brown tree trunks to read clearly without feeling heavy. At 139 cm usable width, with a 59 cm vertical repeat and 69.5 cm horizontal repeat, it is a patterned textile designed for a noticeable scale and a tailored match. The overall effect is airy and natural, with the blue notes kept soft and silvery so the scene feels tranquil instead of saturated.

How to use it

Use it on an armchair, ottoman or occasional sofa where the large-scale trees and ferns can be seen properly. Its cool, muted blue-green palette works especially well with limewashed walls, pale timber and relaxed country-style interiors.

A painterly leafy design that brings a calm, garden-room feel to larger pieces.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
