About this fabric
The design is built from repeated floral medallions, scrolling foliage and smaller geometric accents arranged in strong vertical and horizontal symmetry. Tobacco brown and deep umber outlines give the pattern definition, while pale taupe and sandy beige areas soften its overall depth. Fine tonal flecks across the surface create a visibly textured, timeworn effect rather than a flat, uniform colour. The large-scale repeat reads as formal and decorative, with the darker motifs drawing the eye through the composition.
How to use it
Use Chatham Tobacco on a statement armchair, sofa or headboard where its warm brown depth can sit comfortably with aged timber, antique brass and layered neutral furnishings. Keep surrounding textiles quieter so the intricate taupe-and-umber pattern remains the focal point.
A richly traditional, substantial-looking patterned fabric for upholstered pieces where its warm tobacco depth can anchor the room.
Pairs well with
A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Chatham Tobacco without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
