About this fabric

The large-scale toile design combines charcoal-grey figures, trees, animals and landscape details with a warm ivory-cream background. Rather than reading as stark black and white, the charcoal has a softened, sketch-like depth that gives the scene a quietly antique mood. The visible woven texture adds a subtle grain beneath the fine illustrative marks, while the folds demonstrate a fluid, flexible handle. Its balanced weight makes this colourway suitable for both upholstery and drapery.

How to use it

Use Valencay Toile Charbon to bring a warm cream-and-charcoal scheme to a reading chair, headboard or full-length curtains. Balance its detailed pastoral scene with plain charcoal, oatmeal or softly aged timber around the room.

The warm cream ground and charcoal toile scene bring a softly historical, tailored character to upholstery, curtains and blinds.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
