About this fabric

This Zoffany x Michael Smith outdoor fabric is woven with a fine vertical strié texture, visible as closely spaced lines running continuously through the chalky surface. Its 150 cm usable width makes it practical for upholstery applications, while the 340 gsm weight gives the cloth a substantial hand. With 49 threads per cm and no vertical or horizontal pattern repeat, the design presents as a continuous woven texture rather than a printed motif. In this colourway, cool ivory highlights sit beside muted taupe-grey areas, creating depth without strong contrast.

How to use it

Use Chalk on outdoor seating where a pale, quietly sophisticated finish is wanted, pairing its ivory-taupe tone with weathered timber, stone and soft grey accents. The fine vertical texture also adds definition to cushions and upholstered panels without introducing a bold pattern.

A softly neutral outdoor upholstery with fine vertical strié texture and gentle taupe-grey tonal shading.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
