About this colour
At #E8E6E2, Just, Barely reads as a soft warm neutral with a faint greige undertone, so it feels calm rather than crisp. On a wall it lifts light gently, keeping pale rooms open without the hard brightness of a true white. In north-facing light it can edge a little cooler and more stone-like, while in south-facing rooms the warmth comes forward and it feels softer and creamier. It sits well beside natural oak, walnut and painted joinery in the same muted family, and it gives a clean backdrop to patterned curtains, linen shades and upholstered pieces in deeper neutrals, greens or charcoals. In Flat Matt or Flat Matt Claypaint it will look more powdery; in Eggshell or Soft Sheen it will feel slightly clearer on woodwork and doors.
How to use it
Use Just, Barely on walls where you want a restrained neutral that will not fight patterned upholstery or woven curtains. It suits skirting, panelling and built-in joinery, especially beside timber, mushroom-toned linens and darker, grounded seating.
A pale neutral like this keeps a room light without turning cold.
