Velvet fabrics Velvet001

Leontigre Fauve pairs a rich burnt-rust ground with sweeping near-black marks that recall loose tiger stripes and hand-drawn symbols. The velvet surface gives the colour a dense, softly dimensional appearance.

About this fabric

Catalogued as a velvet, Leontigre Fauve has a warm rust-orange base that reads earthy and saturated rather than bright. Broad, irregular charcoal-black strokes travel diagonally across the swatch, joined by curved looped motifs that give the design an expressive, graphic character. The close textured surface subtly catches the light across the orange ground while keeping the dark pattern visually strong. Its large-scale abstract drawing is especially suited to upholstery where the bold repeat can be seen clearly.

How to use it

Use this warm rust colourway on a sculptural armchair or compact sofa, pairing it with dark timber, aged brass and quieter brown or tobacco textiles. On a headboard or banquette, the near-black markings can act as the room’s graphic focal point.

The deep rust ground and near-black gestural marks make a dramatic choice for an occasional chair, headboard or statement sofa.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
