Sansone Encre

Velvet fabrics Velvet035

Sansone Encre is a deeply saturated ink-blue velvet with an almost black appearance at first glance. Its plain surface shows subtle tonal shifts as the pile catches the light.

About this fabric

The fabric is visually smooth and tightly surfaced, with the restrained lustre characteristic of velvet rather than a visible woven motif. Its cool ink-blue tone moves towards charcoal and blue-black across the swatch, giving the colour considerable depth. The short pile creates a soft, shadowed finish that reads particularly richly in low or directional light. As a velvet fabric, it is well suited to upholstered seating and other pieces where the nap can add dimension.

How to use it

Use Sansone Encre on a sculptural armchair, headboard or compact sofa to introduce a cool, dramatic blue-black note. Balance its depth with aged brass, pale stone or warm natural wood.

Use this near-black ink blue velvet on a statement chair, sofa or ottoman against warm timber and softly lit interiors.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
