Nouveau Velvet Cloud

What's New Velvet

Nouveau Velvet Cloud has a softly striated, vertically drawn look with fine tonal lines in blush, beige and muted grey. The overall effect is airy and polished, with just enough contrast to give the velvet depth.

About this fabric

This velvet from Fryett's Fabrics' What's New collection is 140cm wide and composed of 71% poly, 23% cotton and 6% viscose, with care code NQT1<. The surface reads as a delicate vertical stripe rather than a bold pattern, with slender lines of dusty rose, pale taupe, warm cream and charcoal breaking through the cloth. In this colourway, the blush notes sit quietly rather than brightly, so the fabric feels softened and mature rather than sugary. The velvet finish catches the light in the lighter bands, adding a subtle sheen that enhances the layered, thread-like texture.

How to use it

Use it on an accent chair, banquette or occasional headboard where the muted blush and taupe can warm up oak, stone and linen. It also works well for curtains in a calm, tailored room, especially with off-white walls and dark metal details.

A refined blush stripe that lifts neutral schemes without feeling overtly sweet.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Nouveau Velvet Cloud without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
