Flanders Abyss

Timeless Plains Fabric

Flanders Abyss is a deep blue-teal textile with a quiet, closely woven surface. Its near-solid appearance is lifted by fine tonal variation that becomes more apparent across the swatch.

About this fabric

The swatch reads as a cool, deep teal, balanced between blue and green rather than a bright or saturated turquoise. A fine plain weave gives the surface a softly tactile, textile-led character, while the darker tone creates visual depth without a visible motif. The matte finish keeps the colour restrained, with very slight shifts in tone where the weave catches the light.

How to use it

Use Flanders Abyss on a tailored armchair, sofa or dining seat where its deep blue-teal tone can anchor softer neutrals, warm timber and aged brass. It also suits a calm, tonal room built around charcoal, ink and muted green.

Use this deep blue-teal plain weave to bring cool, quiet depth to upholstered seating and tailored schemes.

Pairs well with

Flanders Abyss is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
