James Plain Shadow

Herriot FabricJAMESSHDW

James Plain Shadow is a near-charcoal grey plain with a close, grainy surface. Its subtle tonal flecking keeps the dark shade from reading as flat in the swatch.

About this fabric

The fabric presents a dense-looking, non-patterned surface in a cool charcoal grey, with fine tonal variation visible across the weave. Small light and dark fibres create a softly mottled finish rather than a completely uniform blackened tone. The close grain gives the colour a grounded, quietly tailored character that suits upholstery. No composition, width, rub-test or additional performance figures are supplied for this colourway.

How to use it

Use this deep, cool charcoal on a sofa, armchair or dining chair where its restrained variation can add depth without introducing a visible pattern. Pair it with pale stone, smoked oak or warmer brass accents to soften the near-black tone.

Use this deep charcoal-grey plain to bring quiet depth and texture to upholstered seating.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
