Clunie Charcoal

Clunie Burn Fabric

Clunie Charcoal is a deep charcoal check with a quietly textured, herringbone-like weave. Fine burgundy and softer grey lines emerge across the dark ground, giving the pattern depth without bright contrast.

About this fabric

Clunie Charcoal is catalogued as a fabric from Isle Mill’s Clunie Burn collection. Its close-up surface shows a dense diagonal weave, while broad intersecting lines form a measured check in charcoal, graphite grey and subdued burgundy. The near-black ground gives this colourway a cool, grounded mood, with the burgundy lines appearing more visible where the light catches the textured surface.

How to use it

Use the deep charcoal ground to anchor a tailored armchair, sofa or headboard, pairing it with warm wood and muted burgundy accents to draw out the subtle coloured lines.

Use this deep charcoal check on tailored upholstery, where its subtle burgundy lines add warmth and definition.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Clunie Charcoal without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
