Alpaca Alto Bordeaux appears as a deep Bordeaux velvet, shaded with near-black plum and brown at the edges of the swatch. Its quiet surface has a soft, restrained lustre rather than a visible pattern.

About this fabric

This plain velvet is a very dark wine shade, sitting between burgundy, plum and brown-black depending on the light. The short, soft nap creates a fine texture across the surface, with only a muted sheen catching towards the centre and edges. As a velvet textile, it is best suited to upholstery, where the saturated colour can give a chair, sofa or headboard a deep, enveloping presence.

How to use it

Use Alpaca Alto Bordeaux for an upholstered statement piece in a room with warm timber, smoked glass or aged brass; its dark plum-wine tone works especially well against softer neutrals.

Use this near-black Bordeaux velvet on a statement chair or sofa, pairing it with warm timber and aged brass.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
