Carnaby Charcoal

Magma Fabric

Carnaby Charcoal is a deep, near-black plain with a soft, heathered surface that reads quietly tonal rather than flat. Its dark charcoal ground gives the fabric a restrained, modern edge.

About this fabric

Woven in a 59% cotton and 41% polyester blend, Carnaby Charcoal has the look of a compact, softly textured cloth with a subtle horizontal grain visible across the surface. The colour sits in a deep charcoal black with faint smoky variation, so it catches the light gently rather than appearing stark or glossy. At 140cm wide, it is a practical furnishing fabric for tailored seating, cushions, and other interior pieces where a darker neutral is needed. With no pattern repeat to work around, it offers a simple, even finish that keeps the focus on the texture and tone.

How to use it

Pair this charcoal shade with pale oak, brushed metal, or chalky neutrals to lift its depth and keep the room feeling crisp. It also works well with layered greys and inky blues for a moody, tailored scheme.

Use for clean-lined upholstery or cushions where a dark, understated finish is wanted.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
