Craigie Hill Shrew

Craigie Hill Fabric

Craigie Hill Shrew has a softly mottled taupe-grey ground with a fine, tightly repeated herringbone weave. Its restrained contrast gives the surface a quietly textured appearance rather than a bold graphic effect.

About this fabric

The close weave forms small directional chevrons that create subtle movement across the cloth. Taupe, charcoal and warm grey threads blend together, giving Shrew a balanced tone that reads neither starkly cool nor distinctly brown. The dense woven surface catches the light gently, revealing the pattern through texture and tonal variation. This textile is best suited to upholstery, where its compact, structured appearance can add understated interest to chairs, sofas and ottomans.

How to use it

Use Shrew on a tailored armchair or sofa alongside chalky linen, warm stone and dark wood; its muted taupe-grey colouring also sits comfortably with aged metal and natural textures.

Pair the muted taupe-grey ground with warm neutrals, dark timber and softly aged finishes.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Craigie Hill Shrew without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
