China Clay - Deep

This colour sits in the neutral family but has enough depth to feel settled rather than pale, with a warm undertone that softens edges on a wall. It reflects light gently rather than bouncing it, so it can feel cocooning without becoming heavy. In a north-facing room it will read a little cooler and more muted, bringing out its beige side, while in south light the clay warmth becomes clearer and more flattering. It works well beside natural oak, walnut, aged brass and textiles in stone, camel, blush or muted green tones. On woodwork it gives a quieter, more tailored look than a bright white, especially where you want trim to sit softly with the wall colour.

Use it in sitting rooms, bedrooms or hallways where a calm, grounded neutral is wanted. It pairs neatly with upholstered furniture in linen, taupe or warm grey, and with painted joinery in deeper browns or soft off-whites.
