About this colour

In this shade, #D6D6CA reads as a warm, muted neutral with just enough green to stop it feeling flat. It reflects light gently rather than bouncing it, so it can soften a room while still keeping it bright enough for walls and woodwork. In north-facing rooms it may look cooler and more grey, bringing out the restrained green edge. In south-facing light it warms up and appears more stone-like, especially beside pale oak, aged brass, natural linen and muted sage upholstery. It works well with deeper neutrals and with whites that are not too sharp.

How to use it

Use it in sitting rooms, libraries and hallways where a calm, understated backdrop is needed. It pairs neatly with painted joinery, warm timber and upholstery in oatmeal, mushroom, olive and faded blue-grey.

A soft, composed neutral that keeps a wall feeling calm rather than bright.
