Madison Mole

Timeless Velvets Velvet

Madison Mole is a profoundly dark velvet with a near-black charcoal surface and a restrained mole-brown warmth beneath it. Subtle vertical changes in the pile give the plain ground quiet movement as the light shifts.

About this fabric

The shade reads as deep charcoal-mole, with a cool green-black cast in the darkest areas and a softer brown-grey lift across the nap. Its close, velvety surface shows fine directional variation rather than a printed motif, creating depth without pattern. As a velvet from Mark Alexander’s Timeless Velvets collection, it is especially suited to upholstery where this dark, enveloping tone can give furniture a substantial presence. No performance features are noted for this colourway.

How to use it

Use Madison Mole on a statement armchair, sofa or ottoman where its almost-black depth can anchor a room. Balance the shade with warm wood, aged brass and lighter woven fabrics so the subtle nap remains visible.

Pair this near-black charcoal-mole velvet with warm timber, aged metal and softly contrasting natural tones.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
