Marlborough Carbon is a deep charcoal-grey upholstery fabric with a fine, irregular surface texture. Its cool, mineral tone gives the swatch a restrained depth rather than a flat black appearance.

About this fabric

The close-up shows a dense, small-scale pebbled grain running across the charcoal ground, creating subtle tonal variation as the light catches the raised texture. Carbon reads as a cool grey-black, with softly lifted grey lines that reveal the surface detail without forming a conventional motif. No composition, width, rub test or other further specification data has been supplied for this fabric.

How to use it

Use the cool charcoal tone to anchor a modern sofa or occasional chair, pairing it with pale woods, chalky neutrals or brushed metal to bring out the fine surface grain.

Use this deep charcoal-grey texture on contemporary sofas, armchairs or ottomans for a quietly tailored finish.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
