Ithaca Mercury

Elswick FabricZOF0080-01

Ithaca Mercury is a dark, cool grey textile with a softly irregular horizontal striation running across its surface. Fine black-grey lines and cloudy tonal variation give the cloth a layered, mineral depth.

About this fabric

The charcoal and mercury-grey ground is crossed by uneven, closely spaced lines, creating a textured appearance rather than a sharply defined motif. At 472 gsm, this is a substantial fabric with the visual weight suited to upholstery. It has a usable width of 137.5 cm and a standard length of 30 m. The design has a 62 cm vertical repeat and a 34.5 cm horizontal repeat, while the 170 threads-per-centimetre construction contributes to its dense-looking surface.

How to use it

Use Ithaca Mercury on a tailored sofa, headboard or occasional chair where its cool charcoal tone can anchor pale stone, concrete, brushed metal and softly contrasting warm timber. Its low-contrast linear texture also works well on larger upholstered forms without introducing a strong graphic pattern.

A deep, cool grey with layered linear texture for tailored upholstery and contemporary interiors.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Ithaca Mercury without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
