About Little Greene

Little Greene describes itself as an independent British paint manufacturer, and says it is the only British paint maker still producing a complete range of traditional and modern finishes. Its records date back to 1773, when the Little Greene Dye Works stood at Collyhurst Wood on the outskirts of Manchester, which it calls one of England's oldest industrial sites for making paints and dye solutions.

The colours are the point. The house runs a continuing research programme into the decorative history of the 17th to the late 20th century, reissuing colours from it, and partners with the National Trust. The range is grouped by period as well as by colour: Georgian, Regency, Victorian, 1930s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s.

For us it is the wall behind the work. A cloth is chosen in a room that already has a colour on it, or is about to, and the two decisions are really one decision. These are here so the second half can be made beside the first rather than after it.
