Art of the Loom

Sophie Col 3

Heirloom FabricSophie-3

Sophie Col 3 brings a cool blue-grey ground to a densely drawn botanical scene, where birds sit among layered leaves, flowers and curling stems. Cream blooms soften the darker foliage, while ochre flowers add measured warmth.

About this fabric

The design combines slate-blue leaves, muted olive sprigs, cream and tan flowers, and small birds within a continuous all-over arrangement. Its blue-grey base gives the colourway a cooler, quieter character, while the ochre accents prevent the palette from feeling flat. Fine crosshatched texture is visible across the surface, adding tactile depth beneath the detailed floral and avian imagery. The closely packed composition has a formal, decorative presence suited to an upholstery-led scheme.

How to use it

Use Sophie Col 3 on a statement chair, footstool or upholstered bench, then echo its blue-grey leaves in plain cushions while drawing out the ochre flowers with warm timber and aged brass. Cream surrounding walls will keep the detailed pattern legible without competing with it.

Use the cool blue-grey ground with warm ochre, cream and muted olive accents for a layered, heritage-inspired scheme.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
