About this fabric

This Mercury colourway appears as a deep charcoal grey with a subtle green-black undertone, softened by the velvet pile rather than brightened by gloss. It is woven as a plain velvet with an approximate width of 137cm, and the cloth is supplied for curtains, loose cover upholstery and fixed upholstery. The composition is 60% Polyester, 28% Recycled Polyester, 8% Acrylic and 4% Viscose, giving it a dense, resilient handle that suits contract and general domestic use. With a Martindale rub test of 100,000 and an FR rating of A, it is a practical choice for high-traffic pieces where the darker tone can hold its polished, tailored look. Care is simple too: dry clean, wash with care at 30C, and avoid ironing or tumble drying.

How to use it

Use Mercury on a sofa or banquette for a refined, monochrome anchor, then soften it with pale oak, stone and brushed metal. It also makes a strong curtain colour where the dark grey can frame a room without feeling flat.
