About this fabric

This catalogued velvet has a close, even surface with a soft nap that creates the muted tonal movement visible across the swatch. Fig reads as a dark brown with a restrained red-plum cast, giving it more warmth than a straightforward chocolate shade. The plain design keeps the emphasis on the richness and depth of the colour rather than on a motif. As a velvet, it is especially well suited to upholstery where the nap can add tactile depth to the piece.

How to use it

Use Fig on a statement armchair, sofa or dining seat in a room with warm timber, aged brass and softly contrasting creams. Its dark brown-plum tone also works particularly well as an enveloping accent against pale walls or lighter natural textures.

Use this deep fig tone to give upholstered seating a rich, intimate presence.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
