About this fabric

This colourway shows a large-scale botanical design with slender branches, layered foliage and vivid birds picked out in teal, red and soft green. The ground appears deep cocoa brown rather than a hard black, which gives the pattern warmth and makes the brighter details feel jewel-like. Supplied at approximately 138cm wide with a vertical repeat of 93cm and horizontal repeat of 70cm, it is a substantial decorative fabric in 60% linen, 30% cotton and 10% polyamide. The visible handle looks more suitable for drapery than hard-use seating, and the Q 8 : T 3 care code suggests a considered interior textile rather than a casual cloth.

How to use it

Use Ashdown Black for full-length curtains, lined blinds or padded pelmets where the dark ground can frame the room and let the birds and foliage read clearly. It works especially well with walnut wood, aged brass and quieter wall colours that allow the pattern to take centre stage.

A dramatic choice for curtains or statement panels, with jewel-like birds lifted against the dark ground.
