Leyla Velours Brun

Alba FabricM4070-01

Leyla Velours Brun sets the Alba design against a deep chocolate ground, so the colourway reads rich, moody and intensely graphic. The bright houses, figures and foliage pop sharply from the dark velvet background.

About this fabric

This Manuel Canovas fabric is a 135cm-wide velvet in 60% viscose, 30% cotton and 10% polyester, with repeat of V 94cm / H 135cm approx. The pile gives the surface a soft, light-catching finish, while the black-brown ground keeps the scene grounded and dramatic. Against that dark base, the repeated painted houses, trees and figures appear in vivid pinks, turquoise, mint and gold, with the overall effect feeling fuller and more saturated than a pale colourway. The scale of the design is generous, so the pattern reads best when given room to show its architectural and botanical detail.

How to use it

Use this in a scheme with walnut, brass and velvet cushions for a layered, maximal look. It is especially striking on an occasional chair or bench where the dark ground can frame the colourful motif.

Layer with jewel tones or warm metallics to play up the rich velvet sheen.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
