About this fabric

Catalogued as Velvet, Alexander Antracite has a plain face with no visible motif, allowing its deep tone and subtle pile variation to define the surface. The colour reads as a cool, almost black anthracite rather than a warm brown-black, with a soft graphite cast across the nap. No composition, width, rub-test or performance specification has been supplied for this colourway. Its restrained light variation gives the dark surface depth without introducing a visible pattern.

How to use it

Use this cool anthracite shade on a statement armchair, sofa or headboard where its dark, softly changing pile can provide depth without a busy motif. Balance it with warm wood, ivory or pale grey to keep the near-black tone from feeling too stark.

Pair the deep charcoal pile with pale timber, brushed metal or tonal grey upholstery for a refined, low-contrast scheme.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
