Alexander Petrole is a deeply saturated petrol teal velvet with an almost black cast in the shadowed areas of the swatch. Its uninterrupted surface lets the pile and changing light create the visual interest.

About this fabric

The colour reads as a cool, inky teal rather than a bright blue or green, giving the swatch a rich and enveloping mood. Its plain velvet face shows a soft, even pile, with faint tonal shifts across the surface as the light moves over it. The dark shade and plush appearance make this colourway especially suited to upholstered seating and other furniture where texture can be appreciated at close range. No performance features are noted for this fabric.

How to use it

Use Alexander Petrole on a statement armchair, sofa or headboard to introduce a deep petrol-teal anchor in a room. Pair it with warm timber, brushed brass or pale neutrals to bring contrast to its cool, near-black depth.

A dark, saturated petrol teal velvet that brings depth and a quietly luxurious finish to upholstered furniture.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
