Malvern Slate

Plains & Semi Plains Fabric

Malvern Slate is a cool, understated grey with a softly striated surface and a calm, tailored feel. The weave reads as a subtle plain rather than a stark flat tone, giving the colourway gentle movement.

About this fabric

From Fryett's Fabrics' Plains & Semi Plains collection, Malvern Slate is a fabric with a 140cm width, 0cm pattern repeat and an 80% polyester, 20% cotton composition. The surface has a fine horizontal texture that catches the light in faint silvery threads against the darker slate ground. Its overall tone is cool and muted, sitting between charcoal and mid-grey with a slightly weathered depth. With no pattern repeat to match, it is straightforward to cut and works well where a clean, textural plain is needed.

How to use it

This slate grey works well on modern upholstery where you want depth without contrast, especially alongside pale oak, white walls or black metal details. It also suits smart drapery in a pared-back scheme, where the woven texture adds interest without pulling focus.

Use with brushed metals and pale timber for a clean, tailored look.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
