Ayla Chalk/Black Earth

Indoor Outdoor Weaves II OutdoorHAF0604-03

Ayla Chalk/Black Earth combines a pale chalk ground with closely spaced black dotted lines arranged in irregular horizontal bands. The compact weave gives the surface a clean, graphic rhythm while retaining the visual softness of a light neutral.

About this fabric

The design is built from fine black-and-chalk horizontal marks, with denser bands alternating against quieter areas across the face of the cloth. Its restrained contrast reads cooler and more architectural than a warm beige, while the broken lines prevent the black from feeling severe. At 388gsm and 140cm wide, this is a substantial outdoor fabric suited to upholstery applications. The pattern has a 7.5cm vertical repeat and a very narrow 0.5cm horizontal repeat, keeping the linear detail continuous across a piece.

How to use it

Use the chalk ground to brighten contemporary outdoor seating, pairing it with charcoal, weathered timber or pale stone. The black flecking also makes it easy to connect the upholstery to dark metal frames and graphic accessories.

A structured chalk-and-black outdoor weave with finely broken horizontal striping, well suited to contemporary upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
