About this fabric
The colour reads as a warm, near-espresso brown rather than a flat black, with lighter curled fibres catching the light across the surface. A closely packed, irregular texture is visible throughout, giving the fabric a softly raised and slightly nubby character. There is no visible printed motif; the interest comes from the organic movement of the pile and the subtle shifts between brown and deeper chocolate tones. Its substantial-looking texture makes this colourway particularly suited to upholstered seating where touch and depth are part of the design.
How to use it
Use this dark tobacco brown on a generous armchair, sofa or upholstered bench to create a grounded focal point. Pair it with aged timber, warm metals and lighter cream or tan textiles so the curled surface remains visible rather than disappearing into a dark scheme.
A richly dark, tactile brown for upholstered seating, benches and occasional chairs.

Pairs well with
Tobacco - 2000/17 is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
