Chennai Basil

Orvieto Fabric

Chennai Basil has a muted basil-green ground with a softly layered horizontal pattern of pale, broken dashes. The close weave gives the colour a gently variegated appearance rather than a flat, solid finish.

About this fabric

Across the olive-green surface, short pale green and stone-toned marks form irregular horizontal rows, creating a restrained, rhythmic texture. The pattern is small and closely repeated, so it reads as a subtle woven texture from a distance while revealing its broken dash detail up close. Its balanced colour and apparent mid-weight weave make it suitable for either upholstery or drapery. No performance features are noted for this fabric.

How to use it

Pair Chennai Basil with warm oak, natural linen and chalky neutrals to soften its cool olive depth. It would also sit comfortably alongside muted terracotta or aged brass for a more layered scheme.

Use this muted basil olive weave to bring a softly patterned green note to upholstery, curtains or cushions.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
