Protea Flower Porcelain/Orchid

Curios Fabrics FabricSAF0190-01

Protea Flower Porcelain/Orchid is a very light, airy take on the protea design, with softly drawn blooms scattered across a porcelain-white ground. The orchid-pink flowerheads and muted sage-grey leaves keep the pattern fresh rather than stark.

About this fabric

This colourway reads as crisp porcelain white first, with the protea motifs appearing gently washed in orchid pink, blush and pale sage-grey. The design has a refined, almost watercolour softness that sits quietly against the ground rather than sharply contrasting with it. At 285 gsm, with a usable width of 138 cm and a generous 77 cm vertical repeat, it has the substance to work well on upholstery while still keeping the pattern open and elegant. The 32 threads per cm support the neat, finely detailed outline of the leaves and layered petals, which gives the surface a tailored, decorative finish.

How to use it

Use it to lift a scheme with pale oak, chalky paintwork and linen-toned accessories, letting the soft orchid accents add just enough colour. It also works well in a bright bedroom or sitting room where the delicate repeat can read as airy rather than busy.

Pair with pale timber and brushed metal for a calm, tailored scheme.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
