Malay Clay

Curios Wallcoverings WallpaperSAW0241-03

Malay Clay sets a warm, muted clay-ochre ground against a crisp cream grid of paired lines. Small pale dotted motifs sit at regular intervals inside the larger checks, giving the geometric layout a finely punctuated finish.

About this fabric

On this colourway, the tan-clay field reads softly warm and earthy rather than saturated, while the pale lines stay clear against it. The small dotted blocks introduce a second, finer scale within the broad rectangular checks. Supplied at a 52 cm usable width and 10.05 m standard length, it has a 52 cm vertical pattern repeat and no horizontal repeat. At 130 gsm, this is catalogued as wallpaper rather than an upholstery or drapery textile.

How to use it

Use Malay Clay where its warm clay-ochre ground can bring depth to a room, allowing the cream grid and tiny dotted marks to read clearly across the wall.

A warm clay-ochre ground gives the crisp cream grid a softer, more earthen character.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Malay Clay without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
