Ballantrae Fabric23

Ballantrae 23 Midnight is a deep, cool navy textile with an almost black cast in the shadowed areas of the swatch. Its close, softly irregular weave adds quiet surface depth without introducing a visible pattern.

About this fabric

The fabric appears densely woven, with fine raised threads creating a lightly napped, almost brushed texture across the surface. Midnight blue is layered with subtle blue-grey and charcoal variation, so the colour reads deeper where the pile or weave turns away from the light and softer where it catches. No composition, width, rub-test or performance figures are supplied for this colourway; its upholstery classification is based on the substantial-looking woven surface shown here.

How to use it

Use this cool, dark navy on a structured armchair, sofa or headboard where its nearly black depth can anchor a room. Pair it with chalky whites, stone, aged timber or muted brass to bring out the restrained blue-grey texture.

Use this cool, near-black blue on tailored upholstery, balancing it with pale timber, warm neutrals or brushed metal.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
